Ho Chi Minh Weather in February

The weather in Ho Chi Minh City is warm and rather dry in February. The first half of this month is usually the time for Tet holiday (not the case for 2012 since Tet has already taken place by the end of January), and it is good time for foreign tourists who want to join the most important festival of Vietnamese. Note that during the Tet holiday (Lunar New Year) many stores will be closed and the city will not retain its buzz like usual so check your calendar in advance.

Average February temperature: 27oC
February high: 32 oC
February low: 22 oC
Relative humidity: 70%

Average low 21 C degree 22C degree 23 C degree
Humidity 71% 70% 70%
Precipitation 26 mm 10 mm 15 mm
Rainy days 2 days 1 days 1 day

February is the driest month in Ho Chi Minh City with the least amount of rainfall (one rainy day, precipitation of 10mm) and lowest humidity at 70%. Hence, tourists are advised to use moisturizing cream, drink more water and bring along a water bottle on the trip, especially in walking tour.

Travel tips for HCMC in February

Tourists who visit the city in early February have a great chance to immerse themselves in festive atmosphere of Tet, the traditional New Year holiday of Vietnamese. On the lunar New Year’s Eve, tourists should walk (actually hustle) on main streets in the downtown to feel the extraordinary lively festivity, and enjoy spectacular firework displays at the very first moments of the New Year. In 2013, Tet will fall on February 10th.

It would be great if a foreigner is invited to visit a local family and enjoy the New Year feast in cozy family atmosphere. Besides, visiting pagodas in very first days of a New Year for soul purification and good lucks is part of tradition in Vietnam that foreign tourists should try.  February is also a month of festivals in all over Vietnam. Check out our news and events section for latest updates about these cannot-miss activities.

Overall, February is a good time to visit Ho Chi Minh city, especially for tourists who want to enjoy Tet holiday and get an insight into Vietnam’s culture.
