On 4th September, 297 Vietnamese citizens with Covid-19 vaccine passports were repatriated from Japan on the trial flight of Vietnam Airlines to Van Don International Airport with the seven-day quarantine policy.

The pilot flight is applied for citizens who have been injected enough 2 doses of Covid-19 vaccines in which the second dose is provided at least 14 days and no more than 12 months in advance of the entry date. Plus, the entrants must show the negative Covid-19 test certificate (RT-PCR method) validated by the host country’s authorities within 72 hours before departure.

Accordingly, a centralized 7-day quarantine at Novotel Ha Long Hotel is compulsory for all passengers after their arrival at Van Don International Airport which is cut down from the previous 14 to 21-day quarantines. After that, entrants still have to undergo another 7 days of self-isolation.

All of the procedures from arriving at the airport to moving to the quarantine area have strictly complied with the anti-pandemic policy of the Government and the guidance of the Ministry of Health.

This pilot flight is the fundamental step to expand international flights for people truly in need such as foreign businessmen, Vietnamese citizens overseas, experts, or investors.

Van Don Airport has welcomed 45,872 passengers including both Vietnamese returnees and foreign experts from 228 international flights. The second repatriation flight for Vietnamese citizens in the US is expected to land on 12 September.
